Funding for undergraduate students presenting, competing, or serving in an active role at an academic or student development conference.
The grant is open to undergraduate members of registered student organizations, and to undergraduates taking an active role at an academic or student development conference, meeting, or competition. Funds are for students who are actively engaged in a contributing
role — not for those who are only attending. The Student Life Office, in conjunction with the Vice President for Student Affairs makes the final funding decision.
EACH STUDENT MUST APPLY INDIVIDUALLY.
You're eligible if you're an undergraduate
member of a student organization in good standing with the Student Life Office, or an undergraduate working with a department on an academic-related travel project. A faculty or staff advisor must sponsor your application.You must also have approval to use
a university fund-org number for travel.
Travel for SGA, APB, and The Shield is not eligible under this grant. Graduate students
should apply through the Graduate Studies Office instead.
Your request should fall into one of these categories:
- Presenting at an academic conference.
- Competing in an academic-related competition.
- Holding an active role at an academic or student development conference — for example, committee member or volunteer position.
- Sponsored by a faculty/staff advisor or department, who must submit the request on the student's behalf.
Additional Policies:
- Funding depends on the merit of the travel proposal and on available funds.
- USI accounting procedures must be followed.
- Spending must comply with USI's student domestic travel policy and all University and state regulations. International travel is not funded by this grant.
- Violating University policy during a funded program results in the loss of future grant privileges, and may cost you any awarded or current funding.
- USI complies fully with federal and state non-discrimination and equal opportunity laws regarding federally protected class.
